I am an entrepreneur living in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Currently, I am involved in several startups, including Saperea Technology, Highrise Web, and Notequal Networks. Each startup has a distinctly separate mission, but one thing shared is that they are all Internet-oriented at some level.
For fun, I enjoy biking, hiking, and camping. I frequently generate original content, both alone and collaboratively, including photography, video, writing, and especially music.
I received my Bachelors of Science in Cognitive Science with a minor in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University in May, 2003.
Immediately after graduation, I took a two-year position with the Center for Studies in Higher Education at the University of California, Berkeley. There, I developed a survey software platform for administering web-based surveys and researched web server transaction logs, investigating techniques for combining surveys with logs for better analysis.
In 2003, I co-founded Bucky Ball Web, an Internet consultancy focusing on small businesses in the San Francisco bay area. Bucky Ball Web generated a great deal of activity and grew to manage several clients. I will always have fond memories of this company, but on the same coin, I won't soon forget all of the work that was required. In the end, Bucky Ball Web was a fantastic opportunity, and through it I learned a great deal about running a business.
In 2006, I founded id miller to offer my skills as an Internet and information consultant, focusing on project-based work. As the sole proprietor, I was responsible for every aspect of the company: a unique but manageable challenge. I sought to automate as much as possible, to scale in order to meet future demand.
In 2008, id miller began doing business as Symbol Management, which I created in order to manage the separate business interests that developed under id miller: Saperea Technology, Highrise Web, and Notequal Networks. Now, Symbol Management concentrates on entrepreneurial opportunitues, and provides resources to seed-stage ventures.
