IOBGS
The Infrequent Online Bicycle/Garage Sale (IOBGS) was a whimsical experiment
with REST and jQuery, both of which were trendy at the time. The project was
an attempt to sell books to local neighbors using a website that appeared to
respond as quickly as possible. The final site was a simple and intuitive
solution that featured almost no buttons, and made extensive use of fading and
scaling to eliminate abrupt changes to the user's screen.
Highlights
- applied Roy Fielding's dissertation work (2000) on REST
- created custom REST application server framework in perl
- achieved nearly instant response times when the UI was clicked
